What's on the mind?
What I write in these articles is based on my writing experiences. If you have the chance to avoid some of the pitfalls of writing, wouldn't you want to learn from the mistakes of others? I know I would. When you're a self-publisher or just getting started, there are a lot of things that can go wrong, and it often does. If you're a diamond in the rough author and you are just starting, you can use the experience of those that have already paved the way. With that in mind, I'll publish more articles as I journey through the world of writing.
Self Publishing Co. v.s. Indy Author
I am here to tell you that this is a no-brainer. I've used a self-publishing company and I received the royal screw. If you are looking to publish your manuscript, do not use a publishing company. You'll spend thousands just getting it published, and after your book is published, you will spend another thousand or more trying to market it through them. And by the way, let's talk about editing: you'll spend twelve-hundred or more on editing thinking you're getting "line editing" when in reality you are only getting "copy editing." I spent another six hundred dollars and more on getting my book re-edited by an outside editor who found more errors in punctuation, spelling, sentence structure, etc... than that company. The key to getting your book published is getting wisdom. The other key is getting the right editing service. I cannot stress it enough, find yourself a couple of good editors, I mean that. Googling is a good thing: ask the right questions and you will get a plethora of answers. If you have the money to waste, hire a publishing company, but if you are like most of us, you get smart. Best wishes.
